f1.4 Forum

...Members of the f1.4 Image Improvement Forum are readily available to offer advice for improvement on any image and will give constructive support for those members aspiring to a higher level of achievement...

The f1.4 Image Improvement Forum aims to develop a symbiotic approach with ALL members of the Society who wish to improve their own photography.

The purpose of the Forum is to provide members with an opportunity to receive constructive informal critique for their photographs from a group of the Society’s members who have demonstrated that they collectively possess an appropriate level of skills and experience across all genres of photography and in the use of associated software etc.

The Forum is an informal group created by the Society – no subscription, no committee, and its raison d’être is to promote the highest standards of photography throughout the entire membership and thereby raise both the profile and standing of both the Society and its members.

Use of the Forum is available to all members of the Society whatever their ability who wish to take their photography to the next level and are happy to receive friendly, constructive criticism and analysis of their work by working constructively with other like-minded photographers.

Providing friendly critique and guidance also enables Forum members to gain confidence and improve their own photographic skills.

Assisting members who are seeking to be successful in gaining recognised photographic awards and distinctions.

Broadening the number of images that meet the criteria for entry into external club competitions by raising the overall standard of members’ images

To promote the Society and the photography of its members by entering Battles and Competitions with other clubs and the East Anglian Federation of Photographic Societies’ annual championships and exhibition.

How to submit an image(s) to the Forum

Members can submit images to the Forum for review using the ‘f1.4 Forum’ option when using the Society’s normal image submission system that is available in the Members’ Area of the website. Alternatively, image(s) maybe uploaded to a USB memory stick and handed directly to a member of the Forum.
Whatever, method is used the member should also provide a separate note for example, in the form of either a word or pdf file that outlines both the objectives they are trying to achieve and the scope of help they initially think they might need from the Forum. The note might say something similar to the following example:

…I took this image because I was intrigued by the composition but I’m now having difficulty with the lighting and dealing with some annoying distractions within the frame.  Can the Forum offer me advice to help me resolve these problems and also suggest anything else that I could try to improve the image…?
